Join as A Board Member of the Foundation

The Neurodiversity Foundation is seeking for new boardmembers to enlarge our current board. We have availability for 1-3 new boardmembers.

About Us:

The Neurodiversity Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting neurodiversity and advocating for the rights and inclusion of neurodivergent individuals in society. Through our initiatives, events, and collaborations, we strive to create a more equitable and accepting world for people of all neurological backgrounds. Our websites, apps, courses, services and projects serve as a platform for resources, information, and community engagement. We aim to support the mindshift towards a more neuroinclusive society, both local as global.

The foundation has 4 departments, an average of 30 volunteers, and a need to optimize our organization to become more effective in a efficient way, and a need for more financial smarts leading to funds to support our charitable projects.

About the role:

We are therefore seeking passionate individuals to join our board of directors, its a unpaid position, with the aim of at least 2 years. Due to our needs, we are hoping for individuals interested in serving in either the portfolio of finances or organizational development, but there may be other areas a new board member can support the cause. As a board member, you will play a crucial role in supporting the growth and impact of the organization, enhancing the vision of a neuroinclusive society, set by the Chair of the board and the Director of the foundation.

In general, its not just advice we seek, but the ability to help convert good ideas in actual change: We are looking for people that can help build our organization. Or, as we stated in our founding statement: If you like us, like us, but if you want to work with us, work with us.

Responsibilities to take on may include:
  • Actively participate in (board) meetings & discussions.
  • Provide guidance and expertise in your portfolio area.
  • Collaborate with fellow board members and foundation staff to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Monitor the foundation’s financial health (if applying for the finance portfolio) or organizational effectiveness (if applying for the organizational development portfolio).
  • Assist in fundraising efforts, grant applications, and donor relations.
  • Represent the foundation at events, conferences, and meetings as needed.
  • Uphold the mission, values, and policies of the Neurodiversity Foundation.
Qualifications you have may include:
  • Commitment to the principles of neurodiversity and inclusivity.
  • Experience or expertise in finance, accounting, budgeting, or related fields (for the finance portfolio) or experience in organizational development, strategic planning, project management, or related fields (for the organizational development portfolio).
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clarity on your availability in (weekly) hours to support the work of the Neurodiversity Foundation
  • Prior board experience or involvement in non-profit organizations is desirable but not required.
  • Affinity with the topic; while we exclude nobody, we prefer Neurodivergent candidates for leadership positions, or familymembers or partners of a neurodivergent.

How to Apply:

If you are passionate about promoting neurodiversity and have the skills and experience to contribute to our board, we invite you to apply. Please submit a resume and letter of motivation letter for serving on the board and your relevant experience. There are no motivation letters, which are ‘too long’ for us. We appreciate motivation letters most, when they clearly state, in what areas, tasks, responsibilities, or aims, you can be of direct support to the organization. Applications can be submitted via the ‘join as boardmember’ button. Alternatively you can click here, or email us at  info@neurodiversiteit.nl.

If this is you: Thank you for considering joining the Neurodiversity Foundation board and helping us make a positive impact in the neurodiverse community!
