We’re Nuts Campaign
A public campaign that challenges how neurodivergent people are labeled, perceived, and dismissed—by reclaiming language often used against them.
Why it exists
Neurodivergent people are frequently described using:
- Dismissive language
- Pathologizing labels
- Casual insults
Words that shape perception—and behavior.
Problem it solves
Language normalizes harm.
When terms go unchallenged, they:
- Reinforce stigma
- Dehumanize difference
- Justify exclusion
How it works
- Reclaiming charged language
- Flipping meaning and perspective
- Public-facing storytelling
- Creating moments of reflection and discomfort
It doesn’t soften the message. It sharpens it.
How to use it
- Awareness campaigns
- Education and training
- Social media and public discourse
- Conversation starters
What it’s not
- Not shock for the sake of it
- Not disrespectful for impact
- Not designed to be comfortable
Why it matters
Because language isn’t neutral.
Change the words, and you start to change everything else.
