ND Pride 2018

June 18 2018 will be the first edition of the Neurodiversity Pride Day. this day of pride is created by & for neurodivergents, to celebrate neurodivergent uniqueness, and how each of us “nds”, like autistics, adhders, dyslectics and so many more, add beauty to an otherwise neurotypical society. ND Pride Day is a day to embrace your neurological differentness, and rejoice in how these difference make the world a more beautiful place for all of us.

The program for ND Pride 2018:

Main Event

We have a main event in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. All welcome for food, meetups, speeches and live celebration.

Neurodiversity Keynote of the Year

Every year we will ask a daring pioneer to speak about Neurodiversity. In 2018 the first “Neurodiversiteitsrede” was shared by Tjerk Feitsma, and its written transcripts are shared in the Keynote Room

Neurodivergent Appreciation Cards

We all have neurodivergents around us, that we love, admire, or wish lots of good upon. To let them know, we are sending ‘ND Appreciation postal cards’ to other neurodivergents. And YES, you can send them to yourselves too.

Coming Out as Neurodivergent

To show yourself as Neurodivergent to the world, is takes bravery. It may take courage. But perhaps, this is your day, to release yourselfs of the mask, and accept your authentic nature.

Support & Cocelebrations

Our first edition, is fairly humble; ‘we got this’. Our burning wish is to forge a new worldwide tradition, and this needs many, many ‘friends’ cocelebrating and supporting this dream. There will be many ways more, to support the celebrations in following years.

You Time

ND Pride, is more about YOU, than about anybody else. If there is anything you choose to do today, we’d recommend a moment to reflect, for each of us neurodivergents. To remember what we bring to the world. To smile, knowing it’s a lot.

CELEBRATING EACH NEURODIVERGENT and ALL NEUROTYPES.

The ND Pride Day was founded by neurodivergents, created for ALL Neurodivergents to celebrate themselves and all other NDs in their world.

The Neurodiversity Foundation is the hub for organizers worldwide, as the initial founders, but multiple organizations organize internationally.

Pride Stands Together.

In ND Pride we have created a day for ALL neurodivergents, like Dyslectics, Adhdoers, Tourettians and so many more. ND Pride is for all of us, its our day.

We are inspired by others, but we are not directly connected to other pride movements like LGTBQIA+pride, Mad Pride or Autistic Pride. We stand with them, we support them, but we are different initiatives, with our own ways.

MADE BY&for NEURODIVERGENTS. All Welcome

All are welcome to join ND Pride celebrations, NT allies included. And, if you abide by ‘The 3 rules”, each Neurodivergent can also create their own activity.

We also welcome partners, most are non-profit community partners, but we also allow for corporate partners that have ability to create jobs and roles for neurodivergents.

NEURODIVERSITY PRIDE DAY – Celebrating Neurodivergent Uniqueness

In this world, there are no mistakes, only variations. We are all here for a reason, and there is quaint beauty beyond the mold of the majority. So it is with great pride that, on June 18th in 2018 in the city of Rotterdam, for the very first time in our nation, we will celebrate neurodivergent uniqueness, together with neurodiverse families in the Netherlands. In the event, there will be speeches and drinks, and we salute, those who accepted, appreciated or supported us being who truly we are. Those who helped us break the molds and the masks. Those who helped us accept ourselves. Those who support us, ‘in being flappy’.

neurodiversity pride day - neurodivergent narwhal flappy - from ed wiley library - neurodiversity foundationIts a day of ‘neurominority pride’, to stand strong and mark the uniqueness that we are. Pride for being exactly who we are, in a world that may not understand us. A world that feels different from us, but that is still our own home, and the home of those we love. It is day to choose love, to choose connection, choose (self)acceptance. To shine brighter, regardless of the difficulties we faced.

And for some, its a day for coming out, to unmask, to discontinue the hiding, and reveal yourself unto others. Its a day to appreciate neurodivergents like, or unlike you, for who they really are. Its also a day of gratitude, where we honour those who helped us get us where we are now.

The event is in grattitude for those who supported us, and in preparation of a global Neurodiversity Pride event, for which we overtly invite ASAN, ANI & AE to join us & AF4 in upcoming years.

Speeches by Tjerk Feitsma, Lana Jelenjev, Omotola Bolarin and Eleonora Spagnuolo. If you want to be a speaker or presenter, send the foundation a message via the contactform. Access is free for all.
